Creating Community Rounds

As part of a small, four-person team, I worked in Product Marketing to develop and launch Community Rounds. Our task was to rebrand 'Equity Crowdfunding' due to its negative connotations. We developed 'Community Rounds' to appeal to more established startups, reframing the concept as 'letting your customers invest.' The project succeeded in several ways: - We secured high-profile clients like Replit and Substack. - Our brand awareness increased significantly. - Competitors adopted our terminology.

Developing a new startup: Capitalize

I was placed on an moonshot project to launch a mobile app competitor to AngelList. While ultimately a failure, this project was a step into the world of being a founder. Alongside four others, we ideated, created, and went to market in under five months. I was responsible for go-to-market, product iteration and roadmapping, and customer research among other things. At launch, we secured over 11% of YC W23 batch as clients, raising over $1.1M in funds for them on our SPVs.

Creating Long-Lasting Partnerships: Brex

Throughout my tenures at Wefunder and Levy, I've built and maintained strong partnerships with various companies. A prime example is my relationship with Brex. To drive revenue, I've organized multiple networking dinners and educational events in collaboration with their team. I worked with Andres to help him raise his seed for The Network. I made critical introductions to two investors driving over $275k in funding. I also consulted him as he changed business models. I worked closely with Jordan to help him fundraise, providing detailed research on best-practices, introductions, and hands-on support. Here's his testimonial: "Raising money sucks! Alongside the content, I've worked with Neal to help him set up best-in-class back-office operations systems and processes.
